Basic Information
Question 1
What is the benefit of including an RF IC within the MCU?
Answer
The Holtek SIP solution includes an internal RF IC within the MCU to reduce the needs for external components, reduce PCB areas and simplify hardware circuits to raise production yields.
Question 2
How do I know if the centre frequency of the 2.4G transmitter is correct to avoid range reduction?
Answer
Using a frequency spectrum analyzer can check if the transmission frequency of your product is at the required value.
Question 3
Any suggestions for the crystal specification of the transmitter and receiver?
Answer
32MHz ± 20ppm/FL:16PF/ ESR≦40Ω is recommended.
Question 4
What channels can be used when using these 2.4G Holtek devices?
Answer
From 2400MHz ~2495MHz @1MHz, all 96 channels are selectable.
From 2405MHz ~2480MHz @5MHz, all 16 channels are selectable.
Question 5
What is the advantage of O-PQSK?
Answer
When compared to traditional GFSK, it is similar to spread spectrum with high interference immunity and packet integrity.
Question 6
How do I use Auto Ack?
Answer
A packet with an Ack demand can be sent by setting Bit0 of the FC byte in the TX Packet to 1. The RX can also bring 2 bytes of data back to the TX using Ack.
Question 7
How do I reduce the power consumption of the TX?
Answer
Set bit2 in the SREG0x0D to 1 to enter the PTX mode in which the hardware will enter the power save mode automatically once a data transmission has completed. This removes the power required by the RF section and allows the software to keep running at lower power levels.
Question 8
Is it necessary to replenish the register initial values whenever a software reset is executed?
Answer
Initialization is not necessary for the base band reset however will be required for the Mac reset.
