Holtek HT16C21 Low Pixel Count High Noise Immunity LCD Driver
The HT16C21 is a general-purpose LCD controller & driver which includes an I2C interface, selectable 4 Commons or 8 Commons drive mode and which can display up to 128 pixels. The device uses advanced technology to reduce power consumption and has only 18µA of current consumption when operating at 3V. It has a highly integrated package and a package pin count less than that of competitors and allows more pixel counts to be displayed. Data transmission between the HT16C21 device and the host MCU requires only two signal lines and reduces the need for external components and thus reduces overall system costs.
The HT16C21 contains a 128 bit display SRAM, which can reduce the burden on the host MCU, has a wide operating voltage of 2.4V～5.5V and two frame frequencies. An adjustment circuit offers a 16-level VLCD voltage which is adjustable using instructions. A full screen flicker function is provided, for which there are a choice of three selectable frequencies. There are 4 Commons x 20 Segments or 8 Commons x16 Segments.
The device uses advanced technology to reduce power consumption and increase noise immunity as well as offering enhanced ESD protection capabilities. The full device range includes the HT16C22/HT16C22G, HT16C23/HT16C23G, HT16C24/HT16C24G etc. Among these the HT16C22 has been approved and adopted for widespread use by single-phase meter manufacturers in mainland China and the USA, while the HT16C23 and HT16C24 will see applications in the three-phase meter application area having larger pixel count capabilities.
The HT16C21 is suitable for applications such as home appliances, consumer products, industrial metering, water metering, rural metering, gas metering etc. The HT16C21 is supplied in 28/24/20SOP and 16NSOP packages.
