Holtek's new released HT16512 VFD driver ICs
November 26, 1999
Holtek has released HT16512,
high-voltage process ICs specifically designed as VFD (Vacuum Fluorescent Display) driver
products. The VFD technology originates from Vacuum Tube concept and is often used as a
display panel for A/V or other home appliances. Through commands received from a
microcontroller, HT16512
ICs generate signals that
can either turn on or turn off the corresponding patterns.
HT16512
has an operating voltage of 5V and the VFD
input driving voltage can be up to VDD-30V. A 3-wire serial interface circuit is equipped
to interface with a microcontroller. Through software commands, a variety of modes from
4-grid / 11-segment to 11-grid / 11-segment display mode is available to accommodate the
different kinds of VFD devices. By software control encompassing 1/4 to 1/11 duty cycle,
an 8-step brightness control can also be achieved. On top of that, some of its additional
features are; 6x4 key scan circuit, 4-bit general purpose input ports and 4-bit LED latch
output ports.
With the successful release of HT16512
VFD
driver ICs, Holtek further expands its LCD driver product range and offer customers with a
variety of high quality display solutions.
