Holtek HT7612 New Generation PIR Controller Product Release

11/17/2009

The development of Passive Infra Red or PIR technology has witnessed widespread use in applications such as automatic light controllers, burglar alarms, guest reception monitors, automatic door operation and intelligent toys etc. Responding to a comprehensive need for PIR products in the marketplace, Holtek has moved on from its former HT761x series with the release of this new generation device, the HT7612. Using a new structure and design methods has enabled its standby current to be reduced to a mere 15uA bringing with it the benefits of lower power consumption and extended battery life to meet the trends for more efficient energy saving. An improved circuit structure also allows the warm up period to be reduced to about 10 seconds to allow for faster testing times which further reduce manufacturing costs.

This new PIR controller device includes integrated Triac, Relay and LED outputs to permit more flexible application usage without resorting to different package type. In addition to a 16-pin DIP package type, the device is also available in a 16-pin NSOP package type for further user flexibility.

The system oscillator for the HT7612 now has its own fully integrated RC oscillator requiring no external components, which serve again to reduce manufacturing costs. With the newly added low voltage detection and buzzer driver functions, a low battery voltage situation can be easily detected allowing users the means to change the battery in good time.

The new PIR controller also includes the benefits of an extended operating temperature to a range of -40°C ~ 85°C to meet a wider product application range.
