Holtek releases two new Programmable Pulse Generator devices, the HT46R12 and HT46R14

November 11, 2005

Holtek Semiconductor is pleased to announce the release of two new A/D type 8-bit MCU devices, the HT46R12 and HT46R14. The major new features of these two devices are the inclusion of two internal comparators and a flexible Programmable Pulse Generator, features which make the devices extremely suitable for use in application areas such as Induction Cookers, CCFL Backlit Liquid Crystal Display modules etc. as well as other related application areas.

The Programmable Pulse Generator when activated can generate a pulse waveform whose pulse width can be controlled by software. Using a 4MHz system clock, the programmable pulse width can have a range of between 0.25us to 8.192ms. By using the two internal comparators or a software control method, the PPG circuit can be activated and stopped, providing a flexible means of control which will enable it to meet the demands of a wide range of application areas.

The HT46R12 and HT46R14 devices both use a Holtek 8-bit MCU core, and include a 9-bit A/D converter, Program Memory of either 2K or 4K words, a single or dual PPG circuit and 16 or 20 I/O lines for use in different application areas. Other features include a PFD (Programmable Frequency Divider) and a Buzzer Output Driver, which can both produce a programmable frequency whose outputs can directly drive audio buzzer components. Watchdog Timer and LVR (Low Voltage Reset) functions are also integrated to provide the devices with excellent protection features to ensure normal system running. As is the case with other Holtek MCU devices, the HT46R12 and HT46R14 both meet the demands of industrial specifications.

The HT46R12 is supplied in 24-pin SKDIP and SOP package types, while the HT46R14 is supplied in 28-pin SKDIP and SOP packages. Sample devices along with development tools are presently available from Holtek Semiconductor.
