New TinyPowerTM Microcontroller device release – HT45R06

November 11, 2005

Holtek is delighted to announce the release of a new TinyPowerTM technology A/D type 8-bit MCU device, the HT45R06. In addition to having the features of extremely low power consumption, it also has a fast start up feature which makes it suitable for battery free controllers which use Piezoelectric materials to generate their power supply as well as other ultra low power application areas.

With its extremely fast start up times, the system oscillator circuit, in an extremely short period of time, can generate a stable microcontroller system clock, allowing the MCU to start its normal operation extremely quickly. Within a time frame of only 2.5ms after power-on, the HT45R06 can begin execution of its first instruction, giving a major improvement to the normal time required for oscillator start up and stability to be achieved in addition to providing related reductions in power consumption. When operating at 5V at a frequency of 455 kHz, the current required by the device is a minimal 200ua, giving users an excellent choice for those applications with exceptionally low power requirements.

The HT45R06 device contains 1K of Program Memory, 64 bytes of Data Memory and 13 I/O lines, providing the user with a range of control functions. An internal 4-channel 8-bit A/D converter can be used to interface to external sensors signals such as those from temperature, humidity sensors etc, while the internal PFD (Programmable Frequency Divider) and Buzzer Driver Output functions can generate audio frequency signals. The operating temperature of the device meets the demands of industrial specifications.

The HT45R06 is supplied in 18-pin DIP, SOP and 20-pin SSOP package types, for which Holtek already has available sample devices and development tools.
