New Holtek HT95R34 Telephone MCU

09/24/2008

The HT95R34 forms a new addition to the Holtek range of 8-bit Telephone MCUs. Specification includes 8kx16 Program Memory capacity, 2112 bytes of Data Memory, 28 I/O pins, an 8-level stack, dual 16-bit Timers, an RTC Timer function as well as four external interrupt functions etc, while being supplied in a 48-pin SSOP package type. Its internal PFD - Programmable Frequency Divider - function enables the easy generation of a range of different frequencies, which with the addition of suitable audio components can generate a range of attractive sounds or can be used for infra-red signal modulation purposes.

As the HT95R34 includes an integrated DTMF Generator function the device will see excellent use in products such as multi-function telephones, wireless telephones, telephone answering machines, household security appliances etc. to name but a few. As presently household security products are receiving much attention, using this series of devices, with their software and hardware control, can easily form the foundation to a combined intruder detection and auto-dialing system. Additionally, as the HT95R34 also includes a DTMF Receiver, transmitted DTMF signals can be easily decoded, giving the device an application area in products which need to display incoming call information. In addition to this, and also by using the DTMF decoder function, the possibility exists for external telephone control over household appliances, providing the means for a remote terminal function. These extensive features combine to provide users with an MCU device of exceptional price/performance ratio for related telecommunication products.

The special characteristics of the HT95R34 are not only in its high level of integration, low cost and low power requirements but also because it shares the ability of other Holtek MCU devices, to operate in less than perfect electrical environments due to its high level of noise immunity and features such as its internal Watchdog Timer. Holtek naturally also fully supports the device with its excellent suite of hardware and software development tools. Known as the HT-IDE3000 developments system, these tools incorporate features such as real time emulation, full register read/write access, hardware breakpoints with logical setup functions, full trace analysis functions etc. This full range of features ensure that designers have to hand all the necessary tools to ensure their applications are designed and debugged as rapidly as possible.
