New 8-bit R-F type MCU Product Release --- HT47R10A-1

Holtek takes pleasure in announcing the present release of its new HT47R10A-1 R-F type microcontroller. This new device has 1K of internal OTP Program Memory, has high noise immunity and comes supplied in a 44-pin QFP package. The device is especially suitable for those applications which incorporate an LCD panel such as found in scales, temperature and humidity meters, temperature and humidity controllers and other household appliances.

One of the major features of the R-F range of MCU devices is, as the name suggests, the conversion of an external resistance or capacitance value into a frequency, with the objective of determining the component value and displaying that value on an LCD panel. Internal to the device is a Real Time Clock, which is a 32768Hz oscillator, and is used to keep the system running and timer function operational when the device is in the Power-down mode. The Real Time Clock, additionally has the capability of keeping the LCD panel operational. The LCD driver design allows users, via system configuration options, to choose a compatible set of outputs for the LCD panel used. As the LCD driver uses a memory mapping method to control the LCD panel data, the user is provided with an easy and convenient means of control over the display content.

Overall, the HT47R10A-1, when considering customer needs for simpler changes, offers compatibility in its HT47C10-1 and HT47C10L Mask version devices, making things a great deal easier for the customer. Because the HT47R10A-1 is an OTP type device, for product verification during development, a means of added convenience is provided, reducing the inherent risks associated with volume production. Using OTP devices for low volume evaluation products or even high volume production offers a high degree of flexibility, making it easier to respond quickly to market demands. Availability of the Mask version device, the HT47C10-1, is expected in the fourth quarter of 2006.
