New Product Release 8-bit A/D Full Speed USB MCU --- HT46RB70
September 22, 2006
The newly released HT46RB70 is another addition to Holtek's new generation of 8-bit A/D type Full Speed USB microcontrollers. This new device, like its predecessor, have presently met with full approval from the USB-IF Compliance Test - USB2.0 Report for Full Speed Device. With its 8K of OTP Program Memory and 384 bytes of Data Memory, the
HT46RB70 device contains a host of internal features including two 16-bit timers, up to 38 input/output pins, an external interrupt function, as well as Power-down and Wake-up and Watchdog timer functions etc. The fully integrated A/D converter contains 8-channels and has a resolution of 10-bits. The inclusion of four internal 8-bit PWM functions, makes applications such as motor speed control an simple one to implement. Convenient on-board communication is provided for in the way of a fully integrated SIO serial interface.
As the device is specified as an A/D type Full Speed USB microcontroller, the
HT46RB70 can transfer data with a rate of 12Mbit/Sec. Either a 12MHz or 6MHz crystal can be selected as the system oscillator which together with accompanying proper software setup and using the fully integrated PLL circuit, the USB IP will be internally provided with its required 48MHz oscillation frequency. The
HT46RB70 also generates its own 3.3V stable voltage generator source for use with the D+ pin pull high resistor, reducing even further the need for external components. Regarding the important area of USB resources, the
HT46RB70 provides 6 Endpoints and can support three types of transfer modes, namely control transfer, interrupt transfer and bulk transfer.
The range of application possibilities for the
HT46RB70 are widespread, but are specifically aimed at the range of products which include USB interfaces, such as PC peripherals like joysticks, keyboards, writing panels, touch panels, consumer product type USB interface battery chargers, electronic scales, blood pressure measurement devices as well as applications in the automatic control area, all of which can have data acquisition functions with PC communication ability.
As with all of Holtek's microcontrollers, this new device is fully supported by the usual fully functional and comprehensive software and hardware development tools. Incorporating real time emulation, data memory/register read and write functions, hardware breakpoints with logical setups, full trace function analysis etc, are all features which combine to provide today's designer with a suite of highly efficient tools to ensure their designs are developed and debugged effectively and in as short a time as possible.
The device comes supplied in a 28-pin SKDIP/SOP and 48-pin SSOP package types. Customer samples are available and volume orders can be accepted.
