New 8-Bit LCD Type Low Voltage Mask MCU -- HT49CXXL
August 28, 2002
The three new product releases, the
HT49C30L, HT49C50L and
HT49C70L
represents part of Holtek's new generation of low voltage 8-bit LCD Microcontroller devices. With an operating voltage range of only 1.2V~2.2V these new devices will adopt all the existing advantages of the presently available HT49CXX-1 series of devices. The user can choose from a selection of 2K, 4K or 8K Mask Program ROM size with accompanying 96, 160 and 224 byte data RAM capacity. Features within the MCU enable the user to select various options to select various LCD types with an LCD driving capability of up to 160 pixels for the HT49C70L device. With the addition of an external 32768 Hz crystal, an internal Real Time Clock or RTC allows the system, while in the power down mode, to retain a real-time timer function and keep the LCD display function operational. The device is extremely suitable for products which require LCD panels such as scales, water meters, electronic
multimeters, gas meters, timers, calculators, remote controllers as well as many other industrial and home appliance applications.
The HT49CXXL low voltage type LCD microcontrollers are functionally and pin compatible with the HT49CXX-1 series of devices allowing easy interchange for original users. In addition, users can utilize the HT49RXXA-1 series of OTP devices for development and verification purposes. The HT49CXXL low voltage series of devices with a working voltage range of only 1.2V~2.2V also offers the additional features of reduced power consumption making the devices extremely suitable for use in battery powered systems or in application areas with low current consumption requirements.
To complement its microcontroller device range Holtek has developed a comprehensive development system known as the HT-IDE2000. With the latest IDE software available on the Holtek website for download, the development system incorporates a comprehensive suite of both software and hardware tools, such as real-time simulation, step, breakpoint and full trace features to ease the development and debug process. The additional included feature of an LCD panel simulator allows designers to fully simulate LCD panels without connection to actual LCD hardware, giving a complete tools package that ensures LCD microcontroller application are designed and debugged with a minimum of delay and reach their respective markets in the shortest time possible.
