Holtek HT46R12A/HT46R14A A/D with Comparator type MCU new Product Release
08/06/2007
Holtek wishes to announce the release of two new additions to its A/D range of microcontrollers. The HT46R12A contains 2K x 14 of Program Memory, 88 bytes of Data Memory, and up to 17 I/O lines, while its sister device, the HT46R14A contains 4K x 15 of Program Memory, 192 bytes of Data Memory and up to 21 I/O lines. Both devices also include a fully integrated 9-bit A/D converter.
The HT46R12A and HT46R14A, each contain dual comparator functions as well as one or two internal Programmable Pulse Generator functions, which combine to make the devices suitable for use in applications such as induction cookers, Liquid Crystal Display CCFL background illumination module etc. applications. The Programmable Pulse Generator, PPG, when triggered, can generate a waveform, whose pulse width is software programmable. With a system frequency of 4MHz, the smallest pulse width will be 0.25us and the largest pulse width will be 8.192ms. The stop signal for the PPG circuit can be sourced from either the internal comparator output or by using software control. This flexible means of control allows the device to meet the requirements of a large product application range. Additionaly the internal comparator output input offset can be adjusted down to a value of ±2mV using software, allowing the comparator to approach that of one with ideal characteristics.
As is the case with other Holtek 8-bit MCUs, these two new devices contain the advantages of high noise immunity and excellent ESD protection. When these features are combined with the internal Watchdog timer and Low Voltage Reset function, the possibility of MCU malfunctions occurring due to external influences can be greatly reduced. Regarding packaging the HT46R12A is supplied in 24-pin SKDIP and SOP package forms while the HT46R14A is supplied in 28-pin SKDIP and SOP package forms. Differences in package types for the HT46R12A and HT46R14A devices, give the HT46R14A an additional four I/O pins, two extra external inputs and an additional PPG function.
