New release - A/D Microcontroller HT46RU25 July
19, 2006 Holtek is delighted to announce another addition to its new generation of
microcontrollers, the HT46RU25. Complementing the already released members of its A/D range of
microcontrollers, the HT46RU25
is a One Time Programmable device, containing a 12 bit A/D converter in addition to a
UART, Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter, interface. As well as encompassing the features of its already released sister devices in the A/D range, the HT46R24 offers the advantages of additional I/O pins, more PWM outputs and larger Program and Data Memory capacities giving users an even greater choice and flexibility.
The
HT46RU25 comes with 16K of OTP program memory as well as 576 bytes of data memory providing users with even more programming flexibility for larger or more complex application areas. With its 48 I/O pins, the
HT46RU25 can be utilised in applications such as multi input/output control, for example external keyboard input control, direct LED driving or for controlling external power components such as
SCRs, TRIACs or relays. The 8-channel 12-bit resolution A/D input can be used to directly measure and convert external analog signals such as those from battery voltage detectors, current sensors, temperature, humidity and pressure sensors. The 4-channel 8-bit high frequency PWM modulator can dynamically read the internal PWM registers and directly control the duty cycle of their corresponding output. These PWM outputs can be connected to suitable external circuitry to control functions such as temperature, voltage and current as well as many others. The internal UART is a Full-Duplex Asynchronous design, whose Baud Rate can be setup by software and which supports an error detect flag display function. Data transmission with other systems using the internal UART will reduce loading on the CPU and increase the MCU operating efficiency. Serial communication for the
HT46RU25 is provided through an internal I2C bus interface allowing for extremely convenient and simplified on board application communication. An additional feature is the PFD or Programmable Frequency Divider, which can generate extremely accurate frequencies on an external pin, to drive application circuits requiring an accurate frequency source. A simple PFD application example for this could be an external buzzer. The internal
LVR, or Low Voltage Reset, is used to detect the system voltage, which if it falls below a certain level, will generate a reset signal, preventing any software malfunctions that may occur due to unstable power supply conditions. Packaged in both 48 and 56 SSOP packages, the new 8-bit
HT46RU25 microcontroller is an industrial specification device. Suitable for a wide range of both industrial and home appliance applications in areas such as switching power supplies, multi-function battery chargers, household appliances etc, this new device, with its many features and flexibility opens up many interesting application possibilities. Complementing Holtek's range of MCU devices is a comprehensive suite of hardware and software tools in the form of the HT-IDE3000 development system. Features such as real time emulation, memory/register modification, hardware execution breakpoints, trace analysers etc, are all standard features of the system, all of which add together to provide designers with all the tools they need for rapid and efficient product application development and debug. Samples for the new
HT46RU25 device are now available and production orders can be accepted. The fully compatible Mask type version sister device, the HT46CU25, is scheduled for release during October 2006.
