New A/D with LCD type MCU --- HT46RU66

Following on from the successful release of its HT46R62, HT46R63, HT46R64, HT46R65 devices, Holtek is pleased to announce the new release of the HT46RU66. By enhancing greatly the possibilities within the A/D with LCD device range, the new device offers prospective users a choice of even more application possibilities and increased flexibility.

The HT46RU66 device contains 16K of internal OTP Program Memory, 576 bytes of internal Data Memory and has an internal 46 X 4 LCD Driver function. With up to 32 general purpose I/O pins available there is ample flexibility available for input/output control of external hardware such as LED driving, TRIAC driving, Relay driving etc. The HT46RU66 contains a 12-bit resolution internal A/D converter which by interfacing to a range of suitable external sensors opens up possibilities for applications which require the measurement of external analog signals such as voltage, current, temperature etc. Each device also possesses an internal PWM function, a useful feature, which by changing the value within a dedicated internal register can very conveniently directly and immediately control the duty cycle of the generated PWM signal. This PWM output function is applicable in areas such as temperature controllers, voltage and current controllers etc. The integrated UART function, is a full duplex asynchronous design, whose Baud Rate can be set by software and which supports an error detect flag display function. Data transmission with other systems using the internal UART will reduce loading on the CPU and improve the operating efficiency of the MCU.

The HT46RU66 offers a range of internal features of which include an RTC or Real Time Clock, a power down function with a wake-up options on all pins of Port A, two 16-bit timers, a single 8-bit timer and a PFD or Programmable Frequency Divider function, which is useful for applications which require a precise frequency source. A Buzzer Driver Output is also included which is able to directly drive a piezo buzzer or similar type buzzer audio device. The LVR, Low Voltage Reset, and LVD, Low Voltage Detector, internal functions provide additional protection features in situations where low power supply voltages may occur.

All of Holtek's new A/D with LCD microcontroller devices conform to industrial specification requirements. The HT46RU66 is available in 52-pin QFP, 56-pin SSOP, and 100-pin QFP package types. The new device has an extremely wide range of application possibilities, a few of which could be industrial control, household appliances, medical appliances and exercise machines etc.

Holtek's present comprehensive suite of hardware and software tools, in the form of the HT-IDE3000 development system, of course fully support this new device. Features such as real time emulation, memory/register modification, hardware execution breakpoints, trace analyzers etc, are all standard features of the system, all of which add together to provide designers with all the tools they need for rapid and efficient product application development and debug.

Sample devices are available and production orders can be taken for the HT46RU66. The functionally compatible Mask version sister device, the HT46CU66, is scheduled for release during October 2006.
