New 8-bit A/D Type Mask MCU --- HT46C22

July 11, 2002

The recent release of the HT46R22, an 8-bit A/D Type OTP Microcontroller, is now further complemented by the release of its mask version, the HT46C22. Aimed directly at high volume production, the HT46C22 is fully compatible with its OTP sister device which with its 2K of memory is excellently placed for applications in the high-level domestic appliance and industrial control product area.

The internal PWM D/A is an 8-bit D/A and was designed to work with a high frequency carrier wave. In certain D/A converter applications this feature offers the advantage of reducing the size and weight of the necessary external power output inductor with resulting improvements in overall power efficiency. Using the PWM output is simplified by having the PWM register shared with an I/O registers, which can be directly written to. The A/D converter is an 8-channel 9-bit resolution type which offers the user the flexibility of software controlled A/D options and channel selection. Serial communication for the HT46C22 is provided through an I2C bus allowing for extremely convenient and simplified on board application communication. The HT46C22 is suited for a wide range of applications such as higher level household appliance, multi-function battery chargers as well as various industrial control applications.

Complementing Holtek's range of MCU devices is a comprehensive suite of hardware and software tools in the form of the HT-IDE2000 development system. Features such as real time emulation, memory/register modification, hardware execution breakpoints, trace analyzers etc, are all standard features of the system, all of which add together to provide designers with all the tools they need for rapid and efficient product application development and debug.
