New Holtek HT1380A/HT1381A Clock IC
Holtek’s previously released real-time clock HT1380/HT1381 devices have proven themselves very popular in the market place seeing common use in a huge range of products which require internal clock functions. This application range includes voltmeters, water meters, home appliances, computer products etc. The quality and characteristics of these devices have been well accepted by customers who have chosen to use them. Based on the needs for improved service and the desire to yet further improve quality, Holtek has now managed to improve on the original HT1380/HT1381 devices by providing new devices using a more advanced manufacturing process and also offering higher negative impedance capability, higher noise immunity and improved operating temperature characteristics. Due to these enhanced features, Holtek has chosen to provide the new devices with new part numbers which are HT1380A/HT1381A.
The HT1380A/HT1381A devices are fully compatible with the predecessor HT1380/HT1381 devices with regard to features and package pins. The HT1380A/HT1381A, in being serial timekeeping devices, provide seconds, minutes, hours, day, date, month and year information. With regard to the number of days in each month and managing leap years, these requirements are fully intenally automatically adjusted. The devices are designed to function at a very low operating current of ＜0.5uA(Max.)@VDD=2.0V and can operate in two modes. One mode is the 12-hour mode with an AM/PM indicator while the other is the 24-hour mode. The devices have two data transmission modes, one is the Single-byte mode and the other is the Burst mode. The HT1380A is packaged in an 8-pin DIP package while the HT1381A is packaged in an 8-pin SOP package. Both devices operate within a large temperature range of −40~85°C.
The HT1380A/HT1381A devices are easy to use real-time clock devices and can be used in application areas such as gas meters, work attendance recording, gate entry recording, cash registers, MP3 players, digital photo frames as well as an unlimited range of office automation applications etc.
