Holtek Releases New HT46RU24 A/D Type MCU with UART
05/07/2008
Holtek wishes to announce the release of its new HT46RU24 A/D type microcontroller with UART. The HT46RU24 includes 8Kx16 of Program Memory, 384 bytes of Data Memory and up to 40 I/O pins. Adding to this specification the device also includes an 8-channel 12-bit resolution A/D converter, which can be used to sense external analog signals. When used in conjunction with appropriate sensors the device can be used to measure parameters such as battery voltage, current, temperature, humidity, pressure, illumination levels etc. The internal PWM function within the HT46RU24 can be used for temperature control, speed control, voltage and current control. The internal Programmable Frequency Divider function is a feature used to generate accurate frequencies and which can be used to drive external audio components, or to generate signals for infra-red carrier signals.
The HT46RU24 in addition to having an IIC slave mode interface, also includes an integrated full-duplex UART function. Features such as software controlled baud rate and automatic error detection flags are also included. Using this fully integrated hardware UART function and other microcontroller resources reduces the loading on the application software when implementing data transfers, allowing the microcontroller to realise its full potential.
As is the case with other Holtek 8-bit microcontrollers, the device has excellent protection features which include excellent noise rejection characteristics, an internal watchdog timer and an internal Low Voltage Reset function, all of which combine to minimise the possibility of device malfunctions under less than perfect environmental conditions. Regarding packaging the device is supplied in 28-pin SKDIP/SOP and 48-pin SSOP package types and the device is supported by the usual suite of hardware and software development tools.
