New 8 bit General Purpose LCD Microcontroller Device --- HT49C30-1
May 6, 2002
With its 2K of internal program mask memory, 96 bytes of internal data RAM, 14 I/O pins and 18x4 LCD driver internal circuitry, the new 8-bit HT49C30-1 represents one of Holtek's new generation of General Purpose LCD Controller
MCUs. The HT49C30-1, by incorporating a real time clock timer function and with the addition of an external 32768Hz crystal, allows the system, while in its power down mode, to still be able to implement a real-time timer function. Additionally, in its low power mode the device is still able to provide an LCD display function. The device is extremely suitable for products containing LCD panels such as scales, water meters, electronic
multimeters, gas meters, timers, calculators, remote controllers as well as many other industrial and home appliance applications.
The device is available in a fully pin and functionally compatible OTP version, the
HT49R30A-1, which can be used during the product evaluation stage to reduce the risks associated with high volume production. This provides designers with the design flexibility needed during the critical transition from low volume evaluation products to high volume final products.
To complement its microcontroller device range Holtek has developed a comprehensive development system known as the HT-IDE2000. The development system incorporates a comprehensive suite of both software and hardware tools, such as real-time simulation, step, breakpoint and full trace features to ease the development and debug process. The additional included feature of an LCD panel simulator allows designers to fully simulate LCD panels without connection to actual LCD hardware, giving a complete tools package that ensures LCD microcontroller application are designed and debugged with a minimum of delay and reach their respective markets in the shortest time possible.
