New LCD Controller MCU - HT49C50-1
May 4, 2001
With its 4K of internal program memory, the new 8-bit HT49C50-1
represents one of Holtek's new generation of General Purpose LCD Controller
MCUs. In
addition to being functionally compatible with the device it now supersedes, the HT49C50,
this new device, with its higher level of noise immunity and higher operating frequency
offers an even wider range of application possibilities.
The HT49C50-1, by incorporating a real time clock timer
function and with the addition of an external 32768Hz crystal, allows the system, while in
its power down mode to still be able to implement a real-time timer function. Also, in its
low power mode the device is still able to provide an LCD display function. The system
provides the options for the user to select various LCD configurations, which together
with its RAM Mapping structure provides the means for an easy interface to many LCD
Panels. Considering the device overall, as well as providing a method of easy upgrade from
existing devices, the superior features of the HT49C50-1
offers designers a flexible and easy method with which to implement their LCD product
designs.
The device is available in a fully pin and functionally compatible OTP version, the
HT49R50A-1, which can be used during the product
evaluation stage to reduce the risks associated with high volume production. This provides
designers with the design flexibility needed during the critical transition from low
volume evaluation products to high volume final products.
The features provided within the HT49C50-1
make it
especially suitable for a wide range of LCD related products such as scales, water meters,
multimeters, gas meters, timers, calculators, remote control products and other similar
LCD related industrial and home appliances.
