New 8-bit I/O Microcontroller Release - HT48RU80 April
17, 2006 Holtek Semiconductor is pleased to announce an increased addition to its devices in the I/O range of microcontrollers in the form of the new
HT48RU80. With the additional feature of a fully integrated UART function, new application possibilities present themselves, as well as being suitable for use in household appliances, consumer products and other intelligent control products.
Residing inside the device is the usual Holtek 8-bit microcontroller core, which can run with an operating frequency of up to 8MHz. Up to 56 I/O pins, make the device suitable for use in applications which must interface to multiple switches and which must drive LED displays. With its internal UART function, the device provides a means to meet the needs of general industrial control communication. To meet the requirements of more complex control applications, the device provides 16K of Program Memory and 576 Bytes of Data Memory. Internal to the device is also a Programmable Frequency Divider, PFD, which can generate accurate frequencies and which can be used as an audio generator. The inclusion of three internal timers and their corresponding interrupt functions, provides designers with additional program control features. Encompassing the usual Holtek functions, such as Watchdog timer, Power-down and Wake-up features, Low Voltage Reset etc, all add up to provide a device that offers comprehensive flexibility. As is usual with all of its microcontroller range, designers are fully supported by a full suite of development tools. This includes a feature packed hardware In-Circuit Emulator, OTP device programmers, Holtek's Windows based HT-IDE3000 software development environment, a C-language compiler as well as a range of application guides. All of these tools combine to provide designers with an efficient means of having their designs developed and debugged in as short a time as possible. The
HT48RU80 is already in full production, for which sample devices are available. The device is supplied in both 48-pin SSOP and 64-pin QFP package types.
