New A/D type with OPA Microcontroller range expansion - HT46R34/HT46R342
March 16, 2007
To further expand the choice of devices in its A/D Type MCU with OPA series, Holtek Semiconductor is pleased to reveal two new additions to the device range. With the part numbers, HT46R34 and HT46R342, these two new devices each have a Program Memory capacity of 4Kx15 and Data Memory capacity of 192 bytes. With up to 20 I/O pins at the user’s disposal, the devices also include special functions such as a fully integrated 12-bit A/D converter and an internal operational amplifier, whose offset voltage can be adjusted down to within 2mv, allowing the operational amplifier to operate close to ideal conditions. These features, along with the many other functions incorporated within the devices, combine to expand and open up new application possibilities.
The HT46R342 device, in addition to containing all the functions of the HT46R34 device, includes an 8x8 array of high current drive outputs. These pins possess the special characteristics of up to 40mA sink current at 5V and up to -20mA source current at 5V, allowing them to directly drive external components such as LEDs, 7-segment displays and LED arrays etc. By being able to directly drive these components, the need for additional external drive components is reduced, with the advantages of reduced PCB areas, simplified circuit design and of course lower cost. For these reasons the HT46R34 and HT46R342 are suitable for applications such as household appliances, small scale control system products including switch mode power supplies, electric induction hobs, electric blankets, electric cookers, washing machines, dish dryers and a wide range of other multi-function electrical appliances etc.
As is the case with other Holtek MCU devices, these devices also incorporate a high level of noise immunity, an internal watchdog timer and a low voltage reset function, reducing the device’s susceptibility to malfunction under less than ideal operating conditions. The HT46R34 is supplied in three package types, 28-pin SKDIP, 28-pin SOP and 28-pin SSOP, while the HT46R342 is supplied in a 44-pin QFP package type. The difference between the different HT46R34 and the HT46R342 package types and increased pin count is due to the addition of an extra 16 high current output pins.
