New LCD Series Product Release --- HT49RA0

02/26/2007

Holtek Semiconductor announces the release of its new remote function LCD microcontroller, the HT49RA0. The device includes 2K x 14 Program Memory capacity and 96 bytes of Data Memory. With up to 9 I/O pins and up to 8 input pins, the device can interface to a 72 key matrix scanning keypad. In addition to these I/O pins, the device also includes a broad range of carrier frequency options and duty cycle options, making the HT49RA0 suitable for use in many remote control applications, such as learning remote controllers, universal remote controllers as well as a range of remote controlled household appliances.
The HT49RA0 includes an internal RTC oscillator which will continue to function even if the device is in the Power Down mode, enabling it to continue with timing operations and still continue with high speed program operation, as well as providing the system with LCD display functions even when in the Power Down mode. The LCD design can be selected by the user using configuration options, such as choosing a compatible LCD drive output. The LCD illumination is implemented using RAM mapping, making for easy system control of the LCD panel. The device is especially suitable for use in remote control products that include an LCD panel such as remote controllers, scales and other household appliances. The HT49RA0 can operate at a working voltage as low as 3.0V and has an operating temperature of 0°C to +50°C and with the simple addition of a precision 12k resistor on the OSC1 pin can implement a 4MHz system clock with a tolerance of ± 3%. These features combine to offer a device which can simplify greatly the circuitry of infra-red remote control products as well as reducing costs.
The HT49RA0, like other Holtek MCU devices, offers excellent noise immunity and full watchdog timer and low voltage reset functions, which combine to reduce the possibility of erroneous device operation. The device is available in a 52-pin QFP package type.
