Holtek HT16K23 Key-input LCD Control & Driver IC
03/03/2011
After the successful release of the HT16C22, Holtek now announces the release of its second I2C interface LCD control & Driver IC, the HT16K23. This series of devices are featured with low power consumption, high noise immunity and ESD protection. The shared Segment Output port and Key Input functions, offer a highly functionally integrated device with a minimum pin count package. These features will minimize required main board MCU I/O pins and reduce overall product costs.
The HT16K23 is supplied in a 28-pin SOP package with two pixel formats of 20 Segments x 4 Commons + 20 Input Keys or 16 Segment x 8 Commons + 16 Input keys. Additional features include internal display memory, an integrated RC oscillator and a wide operating voltage of 2.4V~5.5V. The HT16K23 provides key interrupt signals to the MCU thus reducing the requirement for the MCU to repeatedly monitor the key status. The device requires only two signal lines to communicate with the MCU chip. As the device can detect key inputs, there are significant reductions in MCU I/O pin requirements, as well as simplified main board routing and reduced overall product costs.
The HT16K23 is suitable for use in LCD display control and driving applications such as digital clocks, home appliances, music systems, industrial metering etc. |
