Holtek Product Release HT82A523R 8-Bit I/O Type Full Speed USB MCU
02/18/2008
The new HT82A523R is a new I/0 type full speed USB microcontroller, which fully conforms to USB-IF Compliance Testing (USB2.0 Report for Full Speed Device). The device contains 4Kx15 of OTP Program Memory, 192 bytes of Data Memory as well as an 8-bit timer and 16-bit timer. Additional features include up to 40 I/O lines, an external interrupt, I/O wake-up functions and 2 SPI interfaces.
As a full speed USB I/O device, the HT82A523R, can transmit data at 12Mbit/sec. Either a 12 or 6 MHz crystal can be used to generate the system frequency. With software setup and by using the device’s internal Phase Locked Loop circuit, it can provide a USB IP required 48MHz oscillator. With regard to the USB resources, the HT82A523R supplies 4 endpoints, which can support three kinds of transfer, namely control transfer, interrupt transfer and bulk transfer. An additional I/O power pin is also provided to enable the I/O operating voltage to be supplied externally within a range of 3.0V to 5.0V.
The HT82A523R can be used within a large range of applications, which require a USB interface, such as PC peripheral products which could include keyboards, mouse, fingerprint recognition devices as well as other USB consumer products which require PC data communication etc.
As for packaging the device is supplied in 32-pin LQFP, 48-pin SSOP and 52-pin QFP package types for which Holtek can accept customer requests for samples and volume orders.
As is the case with all of its MCU devices, the HT82A523R is fully supported by a suite of hardware and software development tools. Known as the HT-IDE3000 development system, it provides a full range of comprehensive features such as real-time emulation, data memory and register access, hardware breakpoints with logical setups, trace analysis etc. This set of tools provides designers with the means to ensure that their programs are developed and debugged as quickly and efficiently as possible.
