High Voltage MOSFET Gate Driver – HT45BOC

Firmly directed at the brushless DC motor control application area, Holtek Semiconductor is pleased to reveal the release of its new MOSFET Gate Driver device, the HT45B0C. This device, which is designed to work in conjunction with the HT45RM03 microcontroller, is a high voltage MOSFET Gate Driver, and will provide an integrated solution for the three phase brushless DC motor control application area. The HT45B0C is a high voltage device, which has three power supplies, one for the internal logic, a low side drive power supply and a high side drive power supply. The internal logic power supply input has a range of 4.4V~5.5V, the low side drive power supply input has a range of 9V~20V and the high side driver power supply input has a range of up to 80V.
Three phase DC motors have three phases known as A, B and C, which require six MOSFET devices for driving. They exist in pairs, one of which is known as the high side and the other as the low side. The HT45B0C has three groups of drive circuits to drive the six MOSFETS. The logic input pins to the HT45B0C interface to the PWM drive outputs from the MCU, which are in turn used to control the on/off ratio of the MOSFET devices. Internal to the device are hardware protection circuits, which prevent the upper and lower MOSFETS from turning on simultaneously thus eliminating the risk of power MOSFET burn-out. Additionally, a Low Voltage Reset function is incorporated, which will prevent malfunctions from occurring should the supply voltage fall below the minimum device operation voltage.
The HT45B0C works in combination with Holtek’s newly released HT45RM03 Brushless Motor controller device. Together, these two devices provide an excellent solution for brushless motor control applications in areas such as electric bicycles, vacuum cleaners as well as a huge range of other applications which utilise brushless DC motors.
The HT45B0C is supplied in both 24-pin SKDIP and 24-pin SOP package types for which samples are available and production orders can be accepted.
