New Product Release - 8-bit A/D MCU --- HT46CU25

Following on from the release of the HT46RU25 OTP A/D microcontroller, Holtek is pleased to announce the release of the HT46CU25 Mask level device. In terms of function and characteristics, packaging and pin-out, both device types are compatible. With 16K of OTP Program Memory, 576 bytes of Data Memory and 48 I/O pins the device is suitable for a wide range of multi-I/O type applications. Its internal 8-channel 12-bit A/D converter, can be used to directly interface to external analog signals. The internal 4-channel 8-bit PWM high frequency carrier output can be conveniently controlled by directly writing values to an internal register to control its PWM duty cycle. Additionally the internal hardware UART function is a full duplex asynchronous type whose baud rate can be setup using software, and which has automatic error detection, flag indicator functions etc. By using this UART function to communicate with external systems, the application program overheads are reduced allowing the microcontroller functions to be utilised to their maximum advantage.
The HT46CU25 contains a range of other useful functions such as an integrated slave mode I2C bus interface providing a means for convenient on-board communication, while the internal Programmable frequency divider function, is able to supply an accurate frequency output and can be used for applications such as audio frequency generation and is able to directly drive external audio components such as buzzers etc. The internal Low Voltage Reset function, LVR, can be used to detect low system voltages, which will generate a reset if the device supply voltage should fall below the LVR voltage. This will prevent the device supply voltage from falling below from the lowest voltage required for normal system operation and thus prevent unstable operation.
The HT46CU25 meets industry specifications and is supplied in both 48-pin and 56-pin SSOP package types. The device is suitable for use in a wide range of household electrical appliance products such as electromagnetic hobs, electric cookers, washing machines, dish dryers, air conditioners, temperature control fans, switch mode power supplies, motor speed conversion controllers etc.
As the HT46RU25 and HT46CU25 are functionally and pin compatible, using the HT46CU25 will result in cost savings when the product volume production stage has been reached. Production orders for the device can currently be accepted.
