10-pin I/O type Small Outline Package MCU - HT48R01/HT48R02/HT48R03

The release of these three new devices, the HT48R01, HT48R02 and HT48R03 announces the formation of a new range of ultra small outline 10-pin package range of Holtek I/O type microcontrollers. Supplied in an ultra small MSOP package type, these three devices subdivide into respective OTP Program Memory capacities of 1Kx14, 2Kx14 and 4Kx15, and Data Memory capacities of 64, 96 and 160 bytes in addition to a Stack Level capacity of 4, 6 and 8 levels respectively. To implement timing functions, the HT48R01 comes equipped with a single 8-bit timer, while the HT48R02 and HT48R03 devices contain dual 8-bit timers. Additionally the devices each contain eight I/O lines, an RTC timer, an external interrupt and a complimentary buzzer pair output function. The internal Low Voltage Reset function can also be selected to have three different voltage activation levels.

Additional special features of the HT48R01, HT48R02 and HT48R03 devices are the four oscillator options for their system clock source. In addition to the usual external RC and Crystal oscillator circuits, the devices are also equipped with a fully integrated internal RC oscillator circuit, which requires no external components. An additional internal RTC circuit is also provided which works together with the internal RC system oscillator to provide a further system clock source configuration. The internal RC oscillator can be chosen to have a frequency of either 4MHz, 8MHz or 12MHz. If the internal RC oscillator is selected, this allows additional I/O pins to be freed up for use by the application circuit allowing even further flexibility.

The special characteristics of this new series of devices, lies not only in their functionally rich features, but also in the fact that they are supplied in an ultra small package outline. By using a 10-pin MSOP package type, with a footprint of only 3mm x 3mm, they are smaller in area than the standard 8-pin SOP/DIP packages, opening up new possibilities for those applications where space is at a premium. With the usual features of low cost, low power, high efficiency and multi-function I/O pins, the HT48R01, HT48R02 and HT48R03 series of devices provide all the features for use in a wide range of products as well as possibilities in areas not yet thought of.

As would be expected, these devices are naturally supported by the usual full suite of Holtek’s hardware and software development tools. Providing functions such as real time emulation, memory and register read and write functions, logical setup hardware breakpoints and full trace analysis etc, product designers have all the tools at their disposal for rapid and efficient program development and debug. In addition, the OTP Writer tool is also able to provide an OTP Partial Lock function.
