Holtek donates MCU Tools to Ming Hsin University of Science and Technology

In a cooperative venture between the Ming Hsin University of Science and Technology and Holtek Semiconductor, the two parties have established, at the University, the "Holtek Microcontroller Application Laboratory". With representative from both sides in attendance, at a formal ceremony on 6th June, a donation of Holtek development tools was made to the laboratory, which complements the earlier signing of a formal document of cooperation between Holtek and the University.

With the common objective of promoting academic research, develop new microcontroller product applications as well as promoting the use of Holtek microcontrollers, the Ming Hsin University of Science and Technology together with Holtek, established this laboratory within the University's department of electronic engineering. The cooperate venture will include, the teaching of microcontroller principles and applications, special subject experimentation, the development of Holtek microcontroller related applications as well as the promotion of Holtek microcontrollers and the training of personnel. To facilitate this project, Holtek donated a large number of HT46 development systems and a volume of HT46 OTP devices etc. For their part, the Ming Hsin University of Science and Technology will each year have a class dedicated on the subject of Holtek microelectronic principles and applications.

Both sides in this cooperative venture, hope that the results of the research will be integrated into the classroom curriculum, and plan that in the future, this will lead to the publishing of technical papers as well as the publishing of related books, in order to foster the training of skilled professionals and the provision of related technology information, all of which will add up to provide the industry with a higher standard of professional service. Additionally, the Holtek Microcontroller Application Laboratory, will, in the future, extend efforts to assist related external companies developing MCU based products, and in the training of engineering technology personnel, all of which will serve to further promote Holtek Microcontroller device and their application technology.

Holtek has for many years been promoting its full product line both in Taiwan and overseas. While focused mainly in the area of 3C product applications, the Holtek product range also extends into many other areas such as multi-function toys, voice and music teaching systems in addition to a range of intelligent product applications etc. However this is the first time in Taiwan that Holtek has cooperated with an educational institute, which in this case is the Ming Hsin University of Science and Technology. This new and creative development venture between a high technology IC design house and a Taiwan educational institute will serve to upgrade the standard of domestic microcontroller application technology, in the process demonstrating Holtek's commitment to the Taiwan regional area.
