Telexpo 2000 Telecommunication Exhibition

As one of the most successful technology events in the region for the launching of new telecommunication products and services onto the market, the Telexpo telecommunication exhibition is the venue where almost all of the major South American telecommunication product manufacturers will have a presence. This year was no exception with the Telexpo-2000 event taking place in the Expo Center Norte, Sao Paulo, Brazil from 28th-31st March.

At this exhibition, in addition to a large area focusing on the area of telephone exchanges, other major product areas were portable phone products, feature phones, Caller-ID products etc. Although the area of basic phone sets was not targeted as a major product at this exhibition, from a market viewpoint it remains as an extremely important product.

In its marketing operations in the South American region, Holtek has been aided greatly by its present representative, CIKA but to further capitalize on the considerable market potential in this area, has chosen to elect a second agent, Alcompel. As Holtek sees the South American market area as an important one this new representative will ensure Holtek is in an even stronger position to increase its market share.

Although affected by the turbulence created from the 1997-1998 economic instabilities in the Brazil economic region, it was obvious from the exhibition that recovery in the region's telecommunication industry was well under way. As a result the region possesses a large market potential which Holtek intends to make further inroads into.
