Holtek to Run Their Third MCU Innovation Competition
With a location in the prestigious and renown Hsinchu Science Park, Holtek has firmly established itself as a highly professional and experienced integrated circuit design company. At the present time the company’s personnel headcount stands at 357 and with a capitalization of 65 million USD, its business activities include those of integrated circuit design, development and marketing. Holtek Semiconductor’s sales network is worldwide, having a presence in all important countries across the globe, with its plans for future increased market expansion seeing even further business opportunities for the company.
The Holtek range of semiconductor devices includes those of general purpose and specialised microcontrollers. In addition to the general range of application areas, of which are included speech, communication, computer peripheral, household appliance etc, Holtek also produces a comprehensive range of microcontroller peripheral devices such as a power management devices, non-volatile memory etc. The future will most certainly witness continued efforts by Holtek in these areas, and will see the release of new devices with even further enhanced functionality and flexibility.
Holtek Semiconductor remains firmly committed to the development of joint industry/academic cooperative ventures, evidenced through the previous organisation of MCU innovation competitions. To continue with this obligation and with a view to increasing awareness and use of Holtek microcontroller devices among all levels the academic world, as well as stimulating student innovation and creativity, Holtek is delighted to announce its third innovation competition. The venue for this year’s event, which is scheduled for November, will be the Mingchi University of Technology. Participating groups will come from all over Taiwan and will include those from senior high schools, technical colleges, universities etc. Holtek will provide funding to a value exceeding 1 million NT dollars for microcontroller development systems and in competition prize money. The top three participating group winners will receive a prize money reward of 80,000, 40,000 and 20,000 New Taiwan Dollars. The event will also serve as a practical forum for inter-school/teacher/student competition. It is also Holtek’s hope that this event will provide a means to locate and foster exemplary personnel and products.
To promote participation in the competition, Holtek has organised a series of events during April and May at academic institutions throughout Taiwan. These events, in addition to offering a detailed explanation of the microcontroller that is to be used in the competition, will also provide an HT48 Starter Kit to each participating person for practical use during the event. After the meeting a Holtek development system or Starter Kit will be presented to each teacher in attendance. Holtek therefore takes this opportunity to encourage teachers from related academic institutions to participate in this event.
