Holtek has released a product solution which includes the advantages of both a DC motor driver and touch switch functions. This solution uses a Holtek’s BLDC driver, the HT45F4630, together with a touch MCU, the BS82C16A-3, thus making it extremely suitable for use in electric locks, fans and other similar products. Holtek provides here a practical reference solution to help users with the rapid development of such products.
Electronic locks usually need some basic control functions including motors, keys and RFID. This Holtek solution provides touch keys instead of traditional physical keys, which can provide the lock with a more aesthetic appearance while also making it easier to design, resulting in reduced costs, increased yield and an extended product lifecycle. In addition, driving a DC motor generally requires extensive peripheral circuits or an additional driver IC, however the need for this is eliminated as the HT45F4630 includes a fully integrated DC motor circuit to implement this driving function.
