Holtek New Product Release – HT56R64 TinyPowerTM A/D with LCD Microcontroller

As the first product release from its new TinyPowerTM series, Holtek is pleased to announce its new HT56R64 device. Forming the first of what is to be many devices in this new TinyPowerTM series, this new technology provides the device with exceptionally low power consumption characteristics. In addition to the low power benefits of this new technology and as the device also contains a fast wake-up feature, multiple clock sources and a choice of operating modes, this range of special features combine to ensure the device is able to operate at minimum power levels in line with the present day demands for green products. As a result this new device is suitable for use in applications such as water meters, household appliances, measuring instrumentation, exercise equipment, intelligent card reader products to name but a few of the possible many applications.

The HT56R64 contains a wide range of functions, of which are included 4K of OTP Program Memory capacity, 192 bytes of RAM Data Memory, an 8-level stack etc. In addition there are a host of practical peripheral circuits such as an internal 8-channel 12-bit Analog to Digital Converter, which can be used to process external analog signal sources such as those from temperature and humidity sensors etc. Also included are 12-bit PWM generator functions and 24 I/O lines which can be used for motor speed control and to interface to external switches. Additionally a fully integrated 128 pixel LCD driver circuit function is included as well as SPI/I2C serial interface modules and a Programmable Frequency Divider function allowing for the simple composition a complete microcontroller system on a single device.

Full development support for this device is provided using the Holtek HT-IDE3000 development system, which is a suite of hardware and software tools including functions such as real-time hardware emulation, full register and memory read/write functions, hardware breakpoints with logical setups, full trace analysis etc. This excellent set of design tools ensure that designers have their new product applications debugged and designed as quickly as possible.
