Holtek Releases New HT46RU26 Microcontroller with Internal UART
06/27/2008
Holtek is pleased to announce the release of its new HT46RU26 microcontroller. As an A/D type of microcontroller and containing an internal UART function, the device includes 32K x 16 of Program Memory, 768 bytes of Data Memory, up to 48 I/O lines and can provide designers with a microcontroller solution for multi input/output control applications such as interfacing to external switches, LED driving or driving other external components such as Triacs, Relays etc. In addition the internal A/D function within the HT46RU26 has a resolution of 12-bits and has 8-channels, which can be used for measuring signals from external sensors. Examples of such sensors can be those used to measure battery voltage, current, temperature, humidity, pressure, illumination levels etc. The internal PWM function within the device can be used to control external operations such as temperature, motor rotational speed or to define fixed voltages and currents. The internal Programmable Frequency Divider function together with appropriate external components can be used to generate attractive musical sounds or be used to generate infra-red carrier signals. The internal hardware UART function is a full-duplex asynchronous type, whose baud rate can be controlled by the application program, reducing the software overhead and allowing the microcontroller to reach its full potential. The HT46RU26, in addition to its internal UART function, also includes integrated SPI and I2C bus serial interfaces, a function which provides users with a means for convenient external communication.
The HT46RU26 is one of Holtek’s new generation microcontrollers which meets with industrial specifications and is available in both 48-pin and 56-pin SSOP package types. The device will find good use in applications such as home appliances and industrial controllers for products which could include magnetic hobs, electric blankets, washing machines, drying machines, air conditioners, temperature controlled fans, switching power supplies, multi-function battery chargers, motor rotational speed control products etc.
The device is of course fully supported by Holtek suite of hardware and software design tools, known as the HT-IDE3000. With all the features one would expect from a development system such as real time hardware emulation, memory/register access, logical breakpoint setting, trace facilities etc, designers have at hand all the tools needed to ensure their new product design programs are debugged and finalised as efficiently as possible.
