Holtek HT48RA0-5 New Infrared Remote Control MCU

April 7, 2010

Holtek is pleased to announce the release of a new addition to its range of remote control MCU series devices, the HT48RA0-5. With an internal Program Memory capacity of 1Kx14 and Data Memory capacity of 32 bytes, the 17 I/O lines of the device can drive and scan keypads up to 72 keys. In addition to possessing standard I/O pins, the device also provides a wide range of carrier frequency options and carrier frequency duty cycle options, showing the device's potential in the development of household appliance remote control products such as TV remote controllers as well as DVD player remote controller etc.

One of the device’s most prominent characteristic is its ability to operate at a low working voltage as low as 1.8V, as well has having an operating temperature range of -20°C to +70°C. The system clock is derived from either an external Crystal/Resonator or a fully internal high accuracy RC oscillator circuit with a frequency of 4095kHz and tolerance of ±2%. The IR drive circuit can choose from the internal current amplifier circuit which can drive up to 350mA at 3V or to use an external current amplifier circuit. These features allow for greatly simplified remote controller circuitry and resulting cost reductions.

Internal to the device is a highly noise immune Holtek 8-bit MCU, which with its internal watchdog timer and LVR functions, will counter any erroneous operation due to programming malfunctions. The HT48RA0-5 is supplied in a 20-pin SSOP package type.
